Guided tour at UN Vienna

On 22 November 2016 we visited the United Nations Office in Vienna (UNOV), commonly known as "UNO City". Vienna is one of the four headquarters of the UN, along with Geneva, New York and Nairobi. More than 4,000 employees from over 100 countries work for the Vienna-based organisations.

The 'interactive human rights tour' (which we took in English) offered an exciting opportunity to discover and get a behind-the-scenes view of the UN at work.  Our guide was very helpful and friendly and answered all of our questions. When we entered the complex, we all had to pass a security check and also had to wear visitor ID's during our stay. First, our guide showed us around and explained the different departments to us. Afterwards we watched a short film about what the UN does and what it stands for. Finally we discussed the Declaration of Human Rights.

I really enjoyed the tour - it was very interesting to see what the UN is exactly and why it is so important.
