Drama workshop in English (5A)

In November our English teacher, Ms Schörkhuber, arranged a 4-hour drama workshop with Tom Middler, an English actor, for us in which we learned how to act and express ourselves better. We worked on how to pronounce words properly and how to be self-confident when talking to others.

In the first lesson we did a warm-up and played games. In the next few lessons we did some role-plays, for instance, Tom asked us to read out some phrases and speak in different 'voices'. Furthermore we acted out our own scenes of "Romeo and Juliet", which we had written in our English+ lessons with Prof. Elsner and Dr Louis.

In my opinion the workshop with Tom was very interesting and useful because it really helped us to speak more confidently in front of a big group of people.

The drama workshop with Tom was very interesting because he taught us various useful things regarding the play which we are going to write in our E+ class ourselves (a modern-day adaptation of "Romeo and Juliet"). Tom wanted us to adapt our voices so that they are appropriate in different contexts, for example, we practised a commercial for which we had to sound very convincing and self-confident.

All in all I learnt how working on or changing my voice can influence both my performance and my appearance.
