Writing and performing songs in English (Prof. Hübner)

In our English class we read a really gripping novel, Upside Down Magic. In one of the chapters, the teacher tells her students that everybody is great and nobody is “wonky“, even when their magic does not work like everybody else’s. So our English teacher, Ms Hübner, had an idea. She asked us to create our very own song. We worked in groups and wrote the lyrics and the melody for our songs. Then we performed them in our next English lesson, which was great fun. And the best thing was - we learned English without even realising! :-)

Here are some lyrics:
aw-so-me
-Yes, I’m really awesome,
just the way I am.

I will never say never,
because I know I’m great.

I’m really, really, really, really, really, really awesome
- because I can do this, I am good at this.

aw-so-me
- Yes, I’m really awesome,
just the way I am.

I am great and awesome – just the way I am.

aw-so-me
-Yes, I’m really awesome,
just the way I am.

1st voice: I can dive deeply – I’m really awesome, yes I am!
2nd voice: I can draw pictures – I’m really awesome, yes I am!
3rd voice: I can read books – I’m really awesome, yes I am!
4th voice: I can write texts – I’m really awesome, yes I am!
5th voice: I can run fast – I’m really awesome, yes I am!
6th voice: I can dance well – I’m really awesome, yes I am!

aw-so-me
-Yes, I’m really awesome,
just the way I am.
