Visit to a Christmas market - by 3A
This year our teacher, Prof. Schörkhuber, had the idea of visiting one of Vienna's many Christmas markets, as we had never been to one as a whole class before. So we were all pretty enthusiastic about the idea of visiting the market at Rathausplatz!
On Friday morning, one
of the last days of school before the start of the Christmas holidays (we had
no more tests at school that day), we started the trip and took tram number 37
to “Schottentor”. The market which we visited is close to the city hall/“Rathaus”
and “Burgtheater” and is very well-known. The weather was fine - sunlight and no rain, but unfortunately, no snow either. I really
hope it will snow next year, so that the atmosphere at the market is more
Christmas-like.
There were many small
huts with candles, tea, scarves, Christmas balls and other things for the
Christmas tree, as well as sweets and candies, toys, wooden handcrafts - and of
course a lot of people. We all had money with us and - I believe almost
everyone - bought something for Christmas. I found a nice present for my
sister. Next to the “Rathaus” and the market there was a huge Christmas tree. In the
park around the “Christkindlmarkt” all the trees were decorated with lights,
which was really beautiful.
This trip as a whole class was
wonderful and special and I am looking forward to visiting a Christmas market again next year.
